Herbert (Herb) Sherman Wilson of Rockingham, North Carolina passed away January 7th, 2025 after a hard-fought battle with cancer at the age of 81. He died peacefully with his family by his side, and is now in the presence of the Lord.
Herb was born and raised in Fairton, New Jersey. A 1961 graduate of Bridgeton High School, he became a born-again Christian at the age of 18. He later joined the United States Army, serving in Germany during the Vietnam War. In 1967, he married Marsha McAllister of Bridgeton, NJ. They spent 57 wonderful years together.
Herb graduated from Cedarville University and dedicated his life to Christian ministry. He was a teacher, administrator, mentor, father, and friend to all who knew him . Herb spent many years in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania as Principal of Canyon Christian Academy. His last thirty years were spent in Rockingham, North Carolina as Principal of Temple Christian School and a Building Contractor.
Herb spent his entire life serving others. His faith always came first, followed by family and country. His desire was that you would be with him in heaven one day, and openly shared that hope with everyone he met.
Herb is survived by his beloved wife Marsha; his children Beth (Jim) Morris; Abby (Adam) Cook; Leah (Andrew) Ours; and grandchildren Avery, Clay, Riley, Morgan, and Sadie. He is also survived by his sisters Barbara (Robert) Hager, Doris (Wayne pre-deceased) Bowman, Diane (Ed) Campbell, and Sue (Bruce pre-deceased) Watkins. He is predeceased by his parents Ralph and Ruth Wilson, sister Betty and brother-in-law Donald Flanigan.
A graveside service will be held at Old Stone Church Cemetery 198 Fairton Cedarville Rd Fairton, New Jersey on Saturday, January 18th at 1:00 p.m. followed by a gathering for friends and family at Truth Bible Church 27 Alloway Friesburg Rd, Alloway, New Jersey.
