Detective Sergeant Monica Mosley, a dedicated mother, grandmother, and daughter, 51, of Bridgeton passed away at her home on Tuesday evening, October 15, 2024. Born in Bridgeton to Trumiller Streeter Winrow and the late Gordon Winrow, she had been a Bridgeton resident for most of her life. Monica was a graduate of the Bridgeton High School class of 1991 and graduated with her Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies from Cumberland County College. She had served her community faithfully for almost 20 years while working for the Cumberland County Prosecutors Office. Monica worked in several departments in the Prosecutors office including the Juvenile Unit, Evidence Unit and Special Victims Unit. With hard work and dedication she earned her promotion to Detective Sergeant in the Internal Affairs Unit, being the first African American woman in Cumberland County to earn such a position. Prior to working for the Prosecutors office she had worked for a law firm, and the Federal Court system in Delaware. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, shopping, eating good food and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her beloved Pitbull Chyna. Most of all Monica enjoyed having fun and was the life of the party, often bringing smiles to all who knew her. She enjoyed going to wineries and hanging with her “Old Lady Gang”. Monica was an avid EAGLES fan and was fierce in defending her team. Monica also was a die-hard Prince fan and loved listening to his music. She was extremely dedicated to her job and serving her community. She is survived by; her children, Chasmine Mosley (Reynaldo Salaman), Lindzey Mosley and Kimon DeShields Jr.; her beloved dog, Chyna; her mother, Trumiller Winrow; her brother, Gordon P. Winrow; former husband of 18 years, Lindwood Mosley; grandchildren, Raine Salaman, Ryder Salaman, Kimon DeShields III, and Kennedy DeShields; uncles, Theodore Streeter, Larry Streeter and John Streeter; her Aunt, Ellen Kennedy; God children and bonus children; and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by; her father, Gordon Winrow; cousins, Joshua Horne and Anthony Streeter; Aunts and Uncles, Ida Goldsboro, Kate Goldsborough, Tema Horne, James Streeter, Larry Horne, Willard “Spider” Goldsborough and Harvey Goldsborough. Funeral Services will be held at Bridgeton High School, 111 N. West Ave., Bridgeton, from 10AM 12PM on Saturday, October 26th. Friends will be received at the Bridgeton High School from 8AM to 10AM prior to the services. Interment will take place at Fernwood Memorial Park in Hopewell Twp.
