Miss Griffin was my 4th grade teacher in 1986-87. She remained my favorite teacher to this day. When she discovered I could draw, she asked me several times to do her bulletin boards and class displays. She encouraged my love of art and even worked with me over the Summer at times to draw for her class after I moved on to other grades. I am so sorry to hear of her passing. I had been looking for a way to reach out to her for some time now. I am now a professional illustrator full time who works from home. I hope she is looking down on me and proud. Her encouragement back then led me to where I am. Thank you, Miss Griffin.

Linda my friend I know your teaching in Heaven.I learned a lot from you.The main thing I learned was that teaching is not a job. I's a gift that so few have or understand. You loved the children with all your heart and they loved you back. I know thanks to you that every child is different but they all need love sincerely and patience. I also found out from you that a hug as well as listening to the children goes a long way. So much more I could say dear friend but know that Carmen will always remember you.

I remember Linda well! We started teaching together in September 1976 in Port Norris. Then in October we were both offered jobs in Haleyville. Linda took the 4th grade position and I took 2nd grade. We remained friends throughout the years. Unfortunately we lost contact upon retirement but I remember all the good times we shared! Linda………rest in peace!

I fondly remember Linda when her brother, Larry, was one of my fifth grade students at Port Norris Elementary School. I wasn't aware she taught at Commercial Township but can feel she was a wonderful, caring teacher and role model for others.

Linda,
You were such a positive force -when I met you at Haleyville in 1999, I could still hear you yelling, “Zeleniak! That bulletin board is crooked” - and then you’d take the whole thing down and put it back up straight. The students loved you!!! You were so full of life and energy and made everyone who came through the doors feel heard and special!!!
I hope you find eternal peace and happiness.
Sincerely,
Kerri
