Obituary of Harold J. Sipps

Harold J. Sipps, 94, of Cedarville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, in the comfort of his home under the care of his family and hospice. Born in Cedarville to the late Benjamin H. Sipps and Helen Clark Sipps, he was the childhood sweetheart and beloved husband of the late Jessie A. Ransom Sipps. He had resided in Cedarville most of his life, except for a 20-year period where he had resided in Hopewell Twp. He had worked as a Lineman and Troubleman for Atlantic City Electric, where he received a Purple Heart Medal for saving the life of a co-worker that was electrocuted while working. He retired after 39 years of dedicated service. Harold helped maintain the West Cumberland Little League for 30 years, coaching for Dan-D-Oil. In his free time, he was an avid hunter who loved his hunting dogs immensely. In addition, he loved gardening, cooking, canning fresh vegetables from his garden, crossword puzzles, reading, history, and spending time with his family. He was also a huge Philadelphia sports fan, especially of the Eagles and Phillies. Harold was known for his determination, letting nothing stand in his way; and for his memory, which was exceptional. He was a devoted father, husband, grandfather and great-grandfather, and always put his family first. He is survived by his children, Dr. Gary Sipps (Helen) of OH, Kerry Sipps (Elizabeth) of Shiloh, Brian Sipps (Kathleen) of Pennsville, Jon Franks of NC, and Kim Anderson (Brian) of Shiloh; 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by; his beloved wife Jessie Sipps; his daughter, Bonnie Franks; and his brother, Benjamin Sipps. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 10th, at the Padgett Funeral Home, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township where friends and family are invited to visit from 9:30 AM to 11 AM prior to the service. Burial will follow the funeral service at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Cedarville.
