John L. Clarke, Jr., 91, of Roebling, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Complete Care at Marcella Center in Burlington, NJ. Born in Oakdale, TN to the late John L. Clarke Sr. and Gertrude Pierce Clarke, he had been the husband of the late Andrea Ladik Clarke. John relocated to Roebling in the 1960’s. John was a veteran of the United States Army; he served in the Korean War and earned the rank of 1st Sergeant. He was proud of his military career and proud to have served his country. He had done mechanical work for steel mills all his life, he retired from John A. Roebling Steel when it closed in the 1970’s. In his free time he enjoyed metal and mechanical works, especially anything involving cars. He also enjoyed going to farmers markets and visiting his family in South Jersey. He is survived by; his sons, Rusty Clarke (Cheryl) of Enon, VA, Richard L. Clarke (Norma) of VA and Robert Clarke of Roebling, NJ; a sister, Ruth Anne; grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by; his parents, his wife,a son, Terry L. Clarke, four brothers and four sisters. A visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 4th from 10 AM to 11 AM, at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. Graveside services will immediately follow the visitation at Centerton Freewill Baptist Cemetery in Pittsgrove Twp.
