Obituary of Doris D. Pierce

Doris D. “Dee Dee” (Green) Pierce, 76, of Millville died on Friday, March 25, 2016 at her home. Dee Dee was born in Norfolk, VA to the late Charles Green and Louise Randolph Green. In the early 1950’s, she moved to New York and later Philadelphia. In her early thirties, Doris had become a resident of Bridgeton until she moved to Millville 15 years ago. Prior to her retirement, she had worked as a home healthcare aide in the Millville and Bridgeton areas. Doris had also been employed by Owens Illinois Glass in Bridgeton and had owned and operated Doris Pierce Trucking. In her free time, she enjoyed shopping, knitting, reading and traveling particularly going on cruises. She had also been a member of the Millville Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Doris was a woman with a hard exterior but a soft heart. She is survived by; four daughters, Jean (Green) Gray of Magnolia, Geraldine Jones of Bridgeton, Gail (Jones) Howard of Somers Point, and Marjorie (Gee) Pierce of Millville; two sons, Marcus Alexander of Stone Mountain, GA and George D. Jones, Jr. of Malaga; two step daughters, Vickie Miller and Gwen Miller; five brothers, Charles Green, Jr. of Puerto Rico, Basim Abdullah of Bridgeton; Randy Green of Atlantic City, David Green of Atlantic City and Frankie Green of Bridgeton; seven sisters, Jean Geiger of Bridgeton, Elaine Bailey of Gouldtown, Dolores Green of Bridgeton, Diane Green of Salem, Patricia Green of Bridgeton, Lisa Green of Bridgeton and Parthenia “Birdie” Green of Bridgeton; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by; two brothers, William Green and Gary Green and a sister, Barbara Green. Memorial services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Friday, April 1st at 1 PM.
