James Brent Thomas, age 53, of Boonton and formerly of Fairfield Township died unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at his home.
Born in Bridgeton on August 26, 1958 he was the son of Jimmie D. Thomas (Minnie) of Franklin Township and Mary Ridgeway Thomas of Fairfield Township. He served as the Tribal Chairman and Chief of the Brotherton Delaware Nation of Indians as Kschippehelleu/Mehoxy.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two daughters, Takeena L. Deas (Joseph) of Somerville and Bettye Griffin of NJ; a son, James Brent Thomas, Jr. of Vineland; two sisters, Theresa Murphy and Carol Roundtree; his former spouse, Gwendolyn C. Hall (Thomas) of Vineland, a grandson Zaelan Joseph Deas and his former mother in law, Earnestine Grice of Fairfield Township. He was predeceased by a brother, Bryan Thomas.
Private funeral services were held at the convenience of the family at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Township. Military Honors by the United States Air Force and burial took place at Gouldtown Cemetery in Fairfield Township.
