Eva S. Johnson, 96, of Port Norris died on Monday, January 11, 2016 at Eagleview Nursing Center in Pittsgrove Twp. Born in Acomac County, VA to the late George Major Collins and Mamie West Collins, she was the wife of the late Rev. Robert J. Phillips and the late Elzie Johnson. Eva had lived in Port Norris since 2012 and before that she had lived in Hopewell Twp. and Springtown. Prior to her retirement, Eva had worked as a nurse’s aide at the Cumberland Manor for several years. She was a member of St. Phillips Missionary Baptist Church in Bridgeton. She is survived by; three children, Louise Scott of Bridgeton, Gladys Barnes of Port Norris and Elmore “Buck” Phillips of Vineland; three sisters, Frances Bailey, Cora Chisum and Eunice Kellum all Accomac County of VA; a brother, Preston Kellum of Accomac County, VA and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by; her first husband, Rev. Robert J. Phillips; her second husband, Elzie Johnson; three brothers, George Collins, Elton Collins and Darrel Kellum; and three sisters, Margaret Trusty, Maggie Thomas and Mary Burton. Funeral services will be held at St. Phillips Missionary Baptist Church, 275 Richardson Ave., Bridgeton on Tuesday, January 19th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Springtown Cemetery in Greenwich Twp. Friends will be received at the church from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
