Theodore (Ted) Samuel Uber, 79, of Bridgeton passed away unexpectedly on October 28, 2015. He was born on October 2, 1936 in Philadelphia, PA to Albert Story Uber and Elizabeth Marie (Deal). Ted was raised in Vineland, NJ and graduated from Vineland High School in 1954. He sang in the Sacred Heart Church Choir in Vineland. Ted was a Cadet Lieutenant in the Civil Air Patrol in Millville, NJ. Later he joined the US Navy and achieved the rank of Seaman First Class. After leaving the service, he worked for several years at the Ferracute Machine Company in Bridgeton. Later, he worked at Owens Illinois in the Corrugated Department for 23 years until their closing. He also was employed at different times in his life by Eastern Recycling in Millville, Winchester Western Railroad and Wheaton Machine Shop. After retirement and in his final years, he worked for the City of Bridgeton as a dedicated Crossing Guard on the corner of Lincoln and Atlantic Streets. He was loved by all his kids. Ted was a nonstop, hardworking man who loved his family. He enjoyed surprising his them with different treasures he found while enjoying his past times, recycling metal, attending yard sales and auctions. He was always there to support his family in their interests such as 4H events, school events, plays, and sports events. If you needed him he was there to help. He was always on the go in his little white truck doing something. Ted is survived by his wife Laura Delores (Dee) Uber. He is also survived by brother, William (Bud) Uber of FL, brother and sister-in-law, David and Deb Uber of PA, and sister, Myra Uber of NC. Son and daughter-in-law, Theodore (Ted) and Lori Ann Uber of FL, daughter, Vicki Rugenus of Newport, daughter and son-in-law Deanne and Chris Laing of Stow Creek, son Bruce Dawson of PA, son and daughter-in-law Richard (Rick) and Celeste (nee Riley) Dawson of Bridgeton. Ted is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 great great children, along with many nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his parents Albert Story and Elizabeth Marie, sister Adelaide Marie (Tootsie), sister-in-law Hazel Uber, and son Michael Dawson. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Monday, November 2nd at 1 PM. Interment will take place at Fernwood Memorial Park in Hopewell Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 11 AM to 1 PM prior to the services.
