Obituary of Sammy J. Jones

Sammy J. Jones, 67, of Millville died on Monday, October 12, 2015 at Cooper University Hospital in Camden following an extended illness. Born in Duplin County, NC to the late Henry Jones and Bessie Leech Jones, he was the husband of Thelma Fuller Jones. After being raised in North Carolina, Sammy moved to Camden in 1972. He lived there until 1998 when he moved to Millville, where he lived for the rest of his life. Prior to his retirement, Sammy had served as a security officer at the Millville Airport. He had also worked as a correctional officer for several area prisons including Garden State Correctional Facility in Yardville and a security officer at Cooper University Hospital in Camden. Sammy was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during peacetime and operation Desert Storm as a Military Police Officer. Sammy was an avid sports fan who’s favorite teams were the Philadelphia Eagles and 76ers. Besides his wife, Thelma Jones, he is survived by; six sons, Trigony Jones of Summerdale, Donald Jones of Camden, James Jones of Millville, Antonio Jones of Rio Grande, Nazeer Jones of Millville and Tevon Jones of Millville; three sisters, Jesse Fazion of NC, Cornelia Smith of NC and Mary Revis of NC; two brothers-in-law, Emanuel Fuller and Donald Fuller; a sister-in-law, Linda Ford and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by; a son, Jamil Jones; a brother, William Jones and a sister, Betty Fuller. Funeral services will be held on at the PADGETT FUENRAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Saturday, October 17th at 11 AM.
