Obituary of Monica Milbourne

Monica Milbourne, 54, of Millville died on Friday, September 4, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Camden. Born in Millville to the late William E. Milbourne, Sr. and Ruth M. Upshur Milbourne, she had been a resident of Millville all of her life. Prior to her retirement, Monica had been a corrections officer at South Woods State Prison where she achieved the rank of Sergeant. She had also been a corrections officer at the Atlantic County Jail. She had attended Stockton State University, Seton Hall and Cumberland County College where she completed an associate’s degree in Business Administration. She loved to travel with her family and play video games, especially Mahjong. Monica was also a musician, specializing in many woodwinds and brass instruments and she always dreamed of riding a three wheeled motorcycle. An active member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Port Norris, she served in the youth programs. She was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Post #2488 in Millville and founded the Women’s Agape Center in Millville. Surviving are five sisters, Marva Milbourne of Vineland, Rhonda Milbourne of GA, Brenda Hampton of DE, Myra Washington of Columbus and Erica Milbourne of Millville; seven brothers, William Milbourne, Jr. of Millville, Larry Milbourne of NY, Kevin Milbourne of Millville, Lionel Milbourne, Sr. of East Orange, Steven Milbourne of Bridgeton, Marlin Milbourne of Vineland and Martin Milbourne of DE and her cat, Little E. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Brenda Silas and Tonya Milbourne and her cat, Ravi. Funeral services will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church, 2411 Memorial Ave., Port Norris on Saturday, September 12th at 12 Noon. Interment will take place at Haleyville Methodist Cemetery in Commercial Twp. Friends will be received at the church from 10 AM to 12 Noon prior to the services.
