V. Rose Hymer, of Bacon’s Neck, Greenwich, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the age of 96 in the home of her daughter, Sharon Powers surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 24, 1919 in Bridgeton to Clarence E., Sr. and Elsie Hollenweger (nee Myers) and was raised on a farm on Lebanon Road by her step-mother Lillian and father Clarence. Rose was predeceased by her husband, Howard F. Hymer, Sr. whom she was married to for 53 years. She was also predeceased by her sister, Elsie Dryer, brothers, Theodore and Clarence, Jr., grandson, Howard F. Hymer, III and daughter in law, Sandra. She is survived by her children, Sharon Powers (Paul) and Howard F. Hymer, Jr., grandchildren, Steven Hymer, Christine Morgan (Dennis) and Cynthia Volk (Scott), great grandchildren Joshua Morgan, Jason Morgan, Amanda Volk, Jacob Hymer, Thomas Hymer, one great-great-grandchild Thomas J. Hymer, a special niece, Rose Tamanini named in her honor and several nephews. As a teen she worked at her Aunt Clara and Uncle Theodore’s well known restaurant, Loper’s Seafood in Bridgeton. Soon after Rose and Howard married in 1939, they built a home on his father’s farm where they lived for many years. Rose was the oldest living member of the Greenwich Presbyterian Church where she had been a very active participant. Being the “Sunshine Lady” for the church was something that brought her great joy. She visited the sick and shut ins until she was no longer able to drive, but still kept sending out cards of comfort. Rose’s church and family were the most important things to her. To honor her wishes a private service will be held. Donations may be made to the Greenwich Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 34, Greenwich, NJ 08323 or to Inspira Hospice at 1138 East Chestnut Ave., # 3 B, Vineland, NJ 08360. Arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Township. Written condolences can be sent to the family through the funeral home website at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
