Obituary of Pauline E. Jones

The sun rose on the life of Ms. Pauline Elizabeth Jones on October 14, 1929 in Bridgeton, New Jersey when she was born to her beloved parents, Trudy Ann Harris Manor and McKinley Manor, Sr. in a house on Chestnut Avenue. Both parents, raised in Georgia, instilled Christian values and a strong work ethic in the fiber of their children. The youngest daughter of seven children, Pauline was raised surrounded by the love and activity of her siblings (Brison, Lillie Mae, Lucille, Bertha Lee, Bernice, and McKinley Manor, Jr.—all deceased), parents, and a host of other relatives. Most of her family (aunts and siblings) eventually settled around the vicinity of Coral Avenue. Pauline was a member of Union Baptist Church and sang alto in the choir as a teenager. Her adult years were spent raising her family and working at the Crystal Laundry in Bridgeton and Vineland for many years. There were eight children born in the family: Nathan (deceased), William, Flora Ann, Harry, Nelson (deceased), John (deceased), Yvonne and Bernard. In 1994, strong-willed and not ready yet to retire, she completed the requirements set forth by the New Jersey State Board of Nursing to be certified as a Cumberland County Homemaker/Home Health Aide. She enjoyed encouraging and nurturing the seniors placed under her tender care for a number of years. When her health permitted, she enjoyed walking, eating out with friends, and taking care of picket-fenced home on North Laurel Street. Loving memories will forever live in the hearts of her children: William Weeks, Jr. (Mary deceased), Flora Ann Young (Rev. John), Harry Weeks (Tina), Yvonne Taylor (Frankie), and Bernard Jones, III (Nicole). She also leaves to cherish her memory 15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; three special nieces: Alberta Canion, Luicille Santos, Bernice Davis, many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 20th at 11 AM at Union Baptist Temple, 60 South Pine Street, Bridgeton. Friends will be received from 9 to 11 AM prior to the services at the church. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Memorial Park in Hopewell Twp. Arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Twp.
