Obituary of Roy S. Blizzard

Roy S. Blizzard, Sr., age 82, of Newport died Monday morning, February 13, 2012 at his home following a one year period of declining health. A lifetime Newport resident, he was born on February 18, 1929 to the late Jonathan 'Jontie'" Blizzard and Lydia Horner Blizzard and was the husband of Doris Waddington Blizzard. Mr. and Mrs. Blizzard celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary this past Christmas. A veteran of the Korean Conflict he had served his country with the United States Army. Before his retirement Mr. Blizzard had been employed with the Wheaton Glass Company in Millville for 39 years, but his real passion was farming in Newport on the family homestead. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Robin Jordan and husband Larry, Sr. of Newport, Terry Eidemiller and husband John of Lawrence Township and Cindy Cummings and husband Paul of Newport; a son, Roy S. Blizzard, Jr. of Newport, 4 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Hazel Moller and 5 brothers, Harry, Eugene, Lewis, Melvin "Ben" and Jontie' Blizzard. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 160 Main Street, Cedarville on Wednesday, February 15th at 11 AM. Burial will take place at Greenwood Memorial Park in Millville.
