Frederick A. Vineyard, Jr., 89, of Bridgeton died on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Inspira Medical Center-Vineland. Born in Bridgeton to the late Frederick A. Vineyard, Sr. and Lulu Herring Vineyard, he was the husband of Lois Rohland Vineyard. Fred had been a lifetime resident of Bridgeton. Mr. Vineyard was a veteran of the United States Army, serving his country during World War II and the United States Air Force Reserve for 24 years before retiring. During his service he had attained the following medals; World War II Victory Medal, World War II Army Occupation, Philippine Liberation WW II Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, American Campaign Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Meritorious Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Reserve Medal and the New Jersey Distinguished Service Medal. He was a member of AMVETS Post 911 in Somers Point and the Meade-Woodward VFW Post 1795 in Bridgeton. Prior to his retirement, Fred had worked in the Batch and Furnace Dept. of Owens-Illinois Glass Co. in Bridgeton. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bridgeton and was also a member of the G.B.B.A. Union. Besides his wife, Lois, he is survived by his daughter, Linda Shaw and her husband Bob of Hopewell Twp.; his son, Frederick Vineyard and his wife Sandra of Egg Harbor Twp.; a son-in-law, Elliot Pettit; four grandchildren, Tommy Wood (Shannon), Jennifer Shaw (Shawn Seay), Meredith Schmidt (Michael) and Stephen Vineyard and a great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Jo Wood. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Josephine “Jody” Pettit and a sister, Josephine Swift. Memorial services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Tuesday, January 20th at 11 AM. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the services. Interment will follow at the Cumberland County Veteran’s Cemetery in Hopewell Twp. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Fred’s memory to AMVET Post 911, Veteran’s Relief Fund, P.O. Box 413, Somers Point, NJ 08244.
