Obituary of Marcellous A. Merritt

Marcellous Anthony Merritt, Sr. of Hopewell Twp. died on December 29, 2014. Tony, as he was known by most, was born in Marianna, Florida. He moved to Bridgeton, NJ in 1972, where he attended Bridgeton High School and played on the football team. He worked at Progresso Foods in Vineland, NJ for several years and was employed by Aunt Kitty’s Foods for the past 17 years. Tony enjoyed fresh and salt water fishing, especially with his son and grandson. He loved all sports by the Philadelphia Eagles were his all-time favorite ream. He really enjoyed watching the games with family and friends. He is survived by; his wife, Michelle; three children, whom he cherished and loved dearly; Jordan, Chelsea and Erica; an adoring grandson, Marcellous Jeremiah Johnson; three brothers, Clinton of Millville, NJ, Steve Adrian of Colorado and Daryll/Bridgett of California; two sisters, Lydia of Pensacola, FL; his mother, Naomi Merritt of Marianna, FL and 23 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by; his beloved son, Marcellous Anthony Merritt, Jr. and a niece, Natasha Merritt. Tony leaves behind several true friends who are as close as family and loved as family. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Wednesday, January 7th at 10 AM. Interment will take place at Fernwood Memorial Park in Hopewell Twp. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, January 6th from 6 PM to 8 PM and on Wednesday morning from 9 AM to 10 AM.
