Arthur R. Schultz, Sr., 87, of Fairfield Twp. passed away on Thursday, December 25th at Inspira Medical Center-Vineland following a brief illness. Born in Bridgeton to the late Frank Schultz and Phebe Clark Schultz, he was the husband of Jacqueline Terry Schultz. Arthur had been a Bridgeton area resident for most of his life. Prior to his retirement he had worked as a machine operator in the Corrugated Department at Owens Illinois Glass Co. in Bridgeton for 39 years. He was a longtime member of the former Calvary Baptist Church in Bridgeton and a current member of the Silver Lake Community Church in Upper Deerfield Twp. Art was a gentle and kind man; he loved the Lord, he loved his family and was happiest when all of them were together. He loved his country and proudly served in the U.S. Army, deployed in Okinawa at the end of World War II. Art was a motorcycle and sports car enthusiast; he once owned a 1955 Porsche, and he rebuilt a 1965 MGB and drove it for years. Art had a beautiful bass voice and sang for the Lord in choirs, quartets and solos. In recent years, he enjoyed Wednesday afternoon pinochle games at the senior center with his buddies Harley, Herman and Phyllis. Above all he was devoted to Jackie his wife of 56 years. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Arthur “Art” Schultz, Jr. and his wife Tracy (Call) of Williamstown; a sister, Dorothy Stadler of Bridgeton; a brother, Kenneth Schultz of Bridgeton; two grandchildren, Arthur Schultz, III and Christin Schultz both of Williamstown and several nieces, nephews and other family members. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbur Schultz and Sonny Schultz and a brother-in-law, Ed Stadler. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Tuesday, December 30th at 11 AM conducted by Rev. L.C. Brown. Interment will take place at Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery in Hopewell Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 9:30 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
