Aunt Josie,
I just saw the obituary on the computer. I am truly sorry for your loss. I wish I would have known because I surely would have been there and I would have brought Shirley Woody too. He will be sadly missed by many. I always enjoyed the music he played and his sense of humor. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. He suffers no more. Love to all

Psalm 147
How good it is to sing praises to our God,
how pleasant and fitting to praise him!
2 The LORD builds up Jerusalem;
he gathers the exiles of Israel.
3 He heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds.
4 He determines the number of the stars
and calls them each by name.
5 Great is our Lord and mighty in power;
his understanding has no limit.
6 The LORD sustains the humble
but casts the wicked to the ground.
7 Sing to the LORD with grateful praise;
make music to our God on the harp.
I can hear Uncle John making music to our God right now in his new healthy body! Maybe even singing "Rocky Top"!
Praying for and thinking of you all during this time.
In Jesus' love,
Joe & Kathy

Truly an awesome man, my fondest memories during my seven years as his pastor and friend is his joy of serving his Lord through song. Truly a man among men, his patience, caring and love embraced Wesleyan UMC in Amherst each Sunday. I will never forget one Sunday before services when John, Kenny Schaar and myself broke out in a spontaneous rendition of "Man of Constant Sorrows" we were just kidding around, a few minutes later the congregation made us sing it all as a special. John was the only featured artist I would have in my devotional time on WAMV radio. His songs would inspire my message to move lives. I will miss my brother John greatly. Ellen and my love go out to his entire family. Love always Dave and Ellen Edinger

Blake Robertson - Amherst Fire Department posted a condolence

To The Family,
I will miss Mr. Browns visits to my shop, we talked alot about the fire departments and the old ways that still work today. I finally talked him in to coming by the Amherst FD one time and it was when we were having one of our steak dinner fundraisers he did stay and eat and I gave him a tour around the place. We both had a great time.
Thinking about the family.
