Thomas "Sweet Daddy" Burrell, 86, of Fairfield Township, died in the South Jersey Healthcare Hospicecare Unit, Bridgeton, on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011. He had been in failing health for the past month. The husband of Catherine Coney Burrell, he was born in Richmond, Va., and was the son of the late Timothy Burrell and Lillian Richardson Burrell. He had lived at his present address since 1998 and had been a Bridgeton area resident for most of his life. Thomas was a tractor trailer driver by trade and prior to his retirement 30 years ago he formerly been employed with LoBiondo Transportation Co. and B. B. Poultry Co. He was a veteran of World War Two, serving in the U. S. Army in the Asian Theater and was a member of Union Baptist Temple in Bridgeton. Besides his wife, survivors include: two step-sons, Donald Rogers, Jr. and Michael Rogers, both of Millville; two step-daughters, Chanel Rogers, Bridgeton and Latoyio Rogers, Sarasota, Fl.; one brother, Timothy Burrell, Jr., Baltimore, Md.; one sister, Elizabeth McCargo, Sicklerville and 6 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mable Goode and two brothers, Allen Burrell and Joesydney Burrell. Memorial services will be held in Union Baptist Temple, Martin King Way Drive, Bridgeton, on Thursday, Jan. 5, at 12:00 O'clock noon. Burial will be private in the Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Township.
