Obituary of Catherine Johnson

Catherine Johnson, 89, of Port Norris went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her family. Born in Marion Station, MD to the late Noah Beachaump, Sr. and Ethel Turpin Beachaump, she was the wife of the late Leon Johnson, Sr. Catherine moved to Port Norris at a young age and remained a resident all of her life. Prior to her retirement, Catherine had been employed by Peterson's Packing House in Bivalve as a shucker. She had also been employed by Scope Child Development Center for many years and by Suziebell’s Canning House in Port Elizabeth for a number of years. She was a lifetime member of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Port Norris where she served as a founding member of the Jubileers Choir. She is survived by; four sons, Eugene Johnson and his wife Wanda of Port Norris, William Johnson and his wife Carolyn of Port Norris, Larry B. Johnson of Port Norris and Carl Johnson of Millivlle; four daughters, Delores Garland of Vineland, Alma Jean Johnson and her companion Clarence Beckett of Port Norris, Darlene Jaimison and her husband Fletcher of Port Norris and Brenda Heath and her husband Larry of Port Norris; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Johnson of Bridgeton; a brother, James Beachaump of Pittsgrove Twp.; two sisters, Attrew Gross of Port Norris and Nelia Smith of Port Norris; two sisters-in-law, Maggie Beachaump of Port Norris and Gladys Nichols of Bridgeton; a brother-in-law, Herman Holden of Bridgeton; 30 grandchildren and a host of other family members. Besides her husband, Leon Johnson, she was preceded in death by; two sons, Leon Johnson, Jr. and Howard Johnson; a brother, Tom Beachaump; a sister, Hattie Beachaump; four grandchildren, Charles Edward Johnson, Daryl Maurice Johnson, Troy Lamont Johnson and Howard Johnson, Jr. and a lifetime friend Elijah Pace. Funeral services will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church, Memorial Ave, Port Norris on Saturday, October 11th at 12 Noon. Interment will take place at Haleyville Methodist Cemetery in Commercial Twp. Friends will be received at the church from 10 AM to 12 Noon prior to the services. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Cedarville.
