Obituary of George Samuel Williamson

George “Sam” Williamson, 80, of Newfield passed away unexpectedly on August 8, 2014 in Knoxville, TN while visiting family.
Born in Dandridge, TN to the late Dewey Williamson and Janie Chrisman Williamson, he was the husband of Linda Liebau Williamson. George had been a resident of Newfield for the past 29 years and prior to that he had lived in Seabrook after moving from Tennessee as a boy.
Before he retired, George had been employed with Seabrook Farms for many years until their closing in 1982. He had also worked in security for Sear’s Retail Store in Vineland and retired from Pathmark Corp. in 1997. He then worked as a security officer at the Cumberland Mall and in the Men’s and Boy’s departments at Walmart in Millville.
George had been an active member of the Upper Deerfield Ambulance Association, Seabrook Fire Co. #2 and a Sgt. of the former Upper Deerfield Twp. Police Dept. He enjoyed traveling and visiting his friends and family in Tennessee and North Carolina. An avid fan of WWE Wrestling, he also collected die cast model cars and trucks and loved to spend time with his kitties.
In addition to his wife of 28 years, Linda, he is survived by six children, Robert Williamson, Grady Williamson, Sr. and his wife Pat, Robin Sinard and her husband Curtis, Greg Williamson, Rebecca Scofield and George Williamson and his wife Carolyn all of TN; two brothers, Amos Williamson of MS and Edward Williamson of NC; three sisters, Betty Sutton of NC, Janie Shelton of Bridgeton and Wanda Carlaw of Hopewell Twp.; six grandchildren, Danny, Grady, Jr., John, Brandon Joshua and Autumn; three great grand-children and many cousins nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Lucille McIntosh.
Memorial services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Saturday, October 4th at 12 Noon. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10:30 AM to 12 Noon prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mr. Williamson’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 1851 Old Cuthbert Rd., Cherry Hill, NJ 08034 or the Cumberland County SPCA, 1244 N.
