Obituary of Ella W. Lucas

Ella W. Lucas, age 87, of Fairfield Township died Saturday evening, July 12, 2014 at her home under the care of Hospice. She had been in declining health for two years and seriously ill the past few weeks. The daughter of the late Raymond Werkheiser and Esther Loper Werkheiser, she was born in Upper Deerfield Township and was a resident of Fairfield Township most of her life. She and her late husband, Paul D. Lucas, Jr. had been married for 61 years. A homemaker, Mrs. Lucas had previously been employed as a telephone operator with the New Jersey Bell Company for ten years. Surviving are her daughter, Barbara Lucas Dagostino of Fairfield Township; two granddaughters, Kelly Dagostino Smario of Cheyenne, WY and Angela Dagostino of Fairton; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Lewis Werkheiser of Millville and a sister, Pearl Fithian of Woodstown. She was predeceased by a grandson, Michael Dagostino, three sisters, Dorothy Swift, Alberta Taylor and Shirley Shafer and two brothers, William and Franklin Werkheiser. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at Fernwood Memorial Park in Hopewell Township.
