Maxine Allen Craner, 88, of Keansburg passed away on July 1, 2014 at Bayside Assisted Living in Keansburg, NJ, following an extended illness. Maxine was born in Burnwell, KY on March 11, 1926 and grew up in Merrimac, WV. During WWII she, along with her sisters, moved to Ohio to support the war effort by working as welders in an airplane plant. After the war she moved to Bridgeton, NJ where she met her husband and started a family. Maxine enjoyed gardening in her free time. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Hence Allen and Hattie Mae (Booth) Allen, her husband Myron “Bill” Craner, a brother Irvin and sisters Pauline Ratliff and Georgia Miller. Also by her half brothers and sisters Dave Allen, Thurman Allen, Elmer Allen, Mert Smith and Ines Elkins. She is survived by a daughter Caroline “Carol” Greene, Colonia, NJ, a son Douglas (Carmen) of Atlantic Highlands, NJ, grandchildren Jennifer (Dan) Engel, Madison, NJ, Brian Greene, New Brunswick, NJ, Erica Craner, New Foundland, NJ and Brad (Heather) Craner of Morris Plains. Also by two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Engel and Benjamin Engel, brothers Hence (Thelma) Allen, Palanta, FL and Charles (Ginny) Allen, Auburn, CA along with many nieces, nephews and their families. Funeral Services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Saturday, July 5th at 12 Noon. Interment will take place at Overlook Cemetery in Bridgeton. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 11 AM to 12 Noon prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Maxine Craner's memory to, the Alzheimer's Association, 399 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
