Obituary of Arthur J. Wilson

Arthur J. Wilson, 82, also known as “AJ” or “Handy Man” of Vineland, formerly of Bridgeton, passed away on June 9, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, DE. AJ served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he received the honor of five bronze stars. A jack of all trades, he retired from Owens Illinois Co. of Bridgeton after 32 years. He could always be found helping out at Hopewell Sub and Pizza. The son of the late John and Caroline Oberlie Wilson, he is survived by his wife of 23 years, Jacqueline (Gergely) Wilson; his loving daughter, Zina Peterson of Bridgeton; his son-in-law and best buddy, Bruce Peterson of Bridgeton; his granddaughter, Crystal Rarey of Bridgeton; three great-grandsons, Brian, Joey and Brandon; his stepchildren, Dennis, John and Steve (Melissa) Vanes of Vineland, Walt “Bud” Vanes of MD, Doris Maurone and Victoria (Keith) Fauconniere of Vineland; many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sisters, Madeline Demore and Sharon Struginski of Buena, Janet Boring of Newfield, Diane Sharp and Shirley Ballinger of FL, Pat McKirshen of Pittsgrove, Nancy Wilson of Glassboro and Gloria Dickinson of Wenonah and his brothers, Maurice Wilson of Utah, Ben Wilson of Mays Landing, and Gerald Wilson of Bridgeton. He was preceded in death by; four brothers, Richard, Woodrow, Ralph and Robert Wilson and two sisters, Bernice Wilson and Aline Zgymunt. He is also survived by many friends, “shed buddies” and CB friends. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Friday, June 13th at 12 Noon. Interment will take place at Overlook Cemetery in Bridgeton. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 11 AM to 12 Noon prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland County S.P.C.A., 1244 N.
