Obituary of Marie E. Brown

Marie E. Stubbs-Brown, 63, of Vineland, passed away at her home on Friday, Dec. 16, 2011. She had been in failing health for the past 6 months.
Marie was born on Oct. 13, 1948 to the late Sherman and Sarah Stubbs in Bridgeton Hospital, the third of four children borne to this union.
She was educated in the Port Norris School System and graduated from Millville Senior High School in 1969. She was employed by Wheaton Glass Co. in Millville, for 40 years. Marie met her husband, the late Edward Brown on Sept. 28th, 1974
She loved to travel and was involved with the Ravishing Royals (Red Hat Society) as the treasurer. Her nickname was "Ms Kitty." She was also a vivid member of the Cancer Society Walk-A-Thons, and enjoyed going to the gym, walking and dancing.
She was an active member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Port Norris, where she faithfully served on the Usher Ministry and Food Ministry Boards. She was always willing to help in any way she was needed. Her favorite hymn was "Well Done" and favorite scripture was the Twenty Third Psalm.
Marie leaves to cherish her memories: her beloved sister, Barbara Stubbs, Vineland, one brother, Sherman Stubbs, Haleyville; one nephew/son, Glendon Daryl Stubbs, Haleyville; one niece/daughter, Verna Marie Stubbs, London, England; four aunts, Carrie Jamison and Edith Selby, Port Norris, Mary Bridges, Bridgeton and Elise Hudgons, Augusta, Ga.; five uncles, Roosevelt Hudgons, Augusta, Ga., Arthur (Mary Ann) Stubbs, Millville, Jimmy (Mary) Bullock, Denver, Co., Manford Bullock and Sherwin (Annie) Stubbs, Pacomia, Cal.; four God-children, Derrick Livingston, Millville, Donate' Jones, Port Norris, Alesia Heaggans, Savannah, Ga., and Felicia Glover, Albana, Ga.; two great-nieces, Talithea (TJ) and NaTasha Brown, London, England; one great-nephew, Duke Brown, Cherry Hill; two brothers-in-law, Robert Brown, Chicago, Ill and Willie Brown, Atlanta, Ga.; two cousins-in-law, Lois Prince and Rosetta Simms, Vineland; two special friends, Nan Carter and Valeria Green and a host of loving cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Brown and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Stubbs.
Funeral services will be held in the Shiloh Baptist Church, Memorial Avenue, Port Norris, on Thursday, Dec. 22, at 12:00 O'clock noon. Burial will be in the Haleyville Methodist Cemetery, Haleyville. A viewing will be held in the church on Thursday morning between 11:00 and 12:00 O'clock, prior to the services. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Cedarville.
