Obituary of Joshua M. Purkins

Joshua M. Purkins, 42, of Upper Deerfield Twp. died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Inspira Medical Center-Elmer. Born in Phoenix, AZ to the late Rex Purkins and Christina Voigt Purkins, he was the husband of Karen Young Purkins. He had been an Upper Deerfield Twp. resident for the past eight years and prior to that he had lived in Pittsgrove Twp. Joshua was currently employed as a service manager with Vineland Syrup Company. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. A loving husband and father, he had coached softball in North Cumberland Little League and also coached soccer with Cohansey Soccer Club. He enjoyed horseshoes, motorcycling, golf, surfing and fishing in his leisure time. In addition to his wife Karen, he is survived by two daughters, Kayla Purkins and her fiancée, Christian Heredia of Mantua and Alyssa Purkins and her boyfriend, Ramon Soto of Upper Deerfield Twp and his brother, Jacob Purkins of New Orleans, LA. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament- St. Michael’s Church, 504 South West Avenue, Minotola on Friday, May 30th at 1 PM. Friends will be received at the church from 12:30 PM to 1 PM prior to the services. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Twp.
