Al Griffin (Big Al) of Easton PA, formerly of Port Norris, died suddenly on May 17, 2014. He was born on July 3, 1955 in Norfolk, VA. He attended the Port Norris and Millville public school systems where he graduated from Millville High School in 1973. Not to long after graduating he enlisted in United States Air Force, where he was stationed at Lackland AFB in Texas. When he left the Air Force, he immediately enlisted in the United States Marines and was stationed at the Marine Corp depot in San Diego, CA; he was also in the Air National Guard in Delaware. Al was well known in Port Norris, Millville and Vineland area from working as a bouncer at a few local night clubs. Later he would move to Atlantic City, where he was employed by Tropworld and Ballys Casinos until he retired. Atlantic City is where he met and married the love of his life, Debbie. Through this union, they had a son and later adopted three sons who they loved very much. Al was preceded in death by; his mother, Roxanna Vinson-Ferguson; his step-father, Mose Ferguson and his father, Christopher C. Hayman. He leaves to cherish his fond memories; his wife, Debbie Griffin; four sons, Connor, Johnny, JJ and Jake, all of Easton, PA; two sisters, Linda Griffin of Millville and Roxanne Beachaump (Tom) of Neptune; two brothers, Larry Griffin (Amy) of Pittsgrove and Kenny Griffin (Rochelle) of Port Norris; a step-mother, Annette Hayman of Neptune; his father and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Brendan Byrne of Las Vegas, NV; a brother-in-law, Brendan (Debbie) of Dublin, Ireland and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be held at John Wesley United Methodist Church, Ogden Ave. in Port Norris, on Tuesday, May 27th at 12 PM. Friends will be received at the church from 11 AM to 12 PM prior to the services. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Cedarville.
