John “Jack” Meehan, 75, of Stow Creek Twp. died Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Inspira Medical Center-Vineland. Born in Bridgeton on July 19, 1938 to the late Joseph Meehan and Eleanor Semple Meehan, he was the husband of Barbara Mecke Meehan. Jack had resided at his present address for the past 28 years and prior to that had lived in Millville. Before his retirement he had worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Cumberland County Dept. of Streets and Roads for over 30 years. He had served his country as a Veteran of the United States Navy. Besides his wife Barbara, he is survived by two sons, Stephen Meehan (Tracey) of Upper Deerfield Twp. and Michael Meehan, Sr. (Belinda) of Upper Deerfield Twp.; two sisters, Carla of Georgia and Melinda of Millville; two nephews, John Burns of Georgia and Shaun Meehan of Bridgeton; a brother, Edward Meehan; eight grandchildren, seven stepchildren, ten step-grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Meehan. A visitation will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Thursday May 22nd from 9 AM to 11 AM. Interment will take place at Fernwood Memorial Park in Hopewell Twp. Written condolences can be sent to the family through the funeral home website at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
