Jennie Hughes-Harold, of Absecon, died on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Absecon Manor following an extended illness. Born in Marianna, FL to Rosetta Elder Rhynes and the late J.C. Rhynes, she was the wife of Larry Harold. She had been a resident of the Atlantic City area since the early 1970’s and prior to that had lived in Marianna and Miami, FL. Jennie had been self employed as a hair stylist and beautician since 1974 when she opened Jennie’s Hair Gallery in Atlantic City where she was known as “the #1 Hair Weaver in South Jersey”. She had also served as a chairperson and active member of the Refuge Church of Christ in Pleasantville, where she raised funds for foreign missions. She was also an active member of the Prayer Warriors at Refuge Church of Christ. An active volunteer at the Jean Webster Kitchen for the Homeless in Atlantic City, she also loved to travel abroad especially to England, Italy and Israel. In addition to her husband, she is survived her mother, Rosetta Rhynes of Egg Harbor Twp.; her son, Freddie Hubbard, Jr. of Atlantic City; two sisters, Muriel McFadden of Atlantic City and three brothers. She was preceded in death by a sister. Funeral services will be held at New Hope Baptist Church, 704-06 Lexington Ave., Atlantic City on Thursday, May 22nd at 12 Noon. Interment will take place at the Atlantic City Cemetery in Pleasantville. Friends will be received at the church from 10 AM to 12 PM prior to the services. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Twp.
