James Handy, Sr., 82, of Port Norris died Monday, April 14, 2014 at his home. A Port Norris and Dividing Creek resident most of his life, he was born on January 14, 1932 in Hopewell , MD to the late Christopher C. Handy, Sr. and Sadie Hooper Handy. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and served in the United States Army and had attended Shiloh Baptist Church in Port Norris. Surviving are eight children, Dorie R. Handy of Jacksonville, FL, Wendy E. Felton of Vineland, Rashad Bey of Sicklerville, Mercedes Handy of Englewood, Jonathan Handy of Capital Heights, MD, Tammye D. Handy of Vineland, Herbert L. Handy of Vineland and Ryan Handy of Jacksonville, FL; three sisters, Jacqueline Lee of Williamstown, Carletta Handy of Richland and Bernetta Martin of Milmay; four brothers, Christopher Handy, Jr. of Yardley, PA, Levin Handy of Millville, Aaron Handy, Sr. and Joseph Handy both of Vineland. He was predeceased by a son, James E. Handy, Jr. and two brothers, Richard and Charles Handy. Funeral services will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church, Memorial Avenue, Port Norris on Thursday, April 24th at 11 AM. Friends will be received at the church from 9 to 11 AM. Burial will take place at Haleyville Methodist Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Twp.
