Philip C. Martin, 88, of Newport died on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the Cumberland Manor in Hopewell Twp. Born in Newport to the late Gilbert Livingston and Viola Martin Livingston, he was the husband of Shirley Morris Martin. Philip had been a Newport resident all of his life. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by Morie Bros. Sand Co. in Newport for many years. He was also a veteran of the United States Navy, serving his country during the Korean Conflict. Besides his wife Shirley, he is survived by his son, Philip C. Martin, Jr. of Newport, a brother, Joseph Livingston of Millville; three sisters, Violet White of Port Norris, Lottie Bethel of Maryland and Shirley Haywood of Rio Grande; a brother-in-law Jerome Langley of Millville; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by; four sisters, Evelyn Whittington, Lucille Ennals, Laura Jean Langley and Barbara Ann Forman; five brothers, George Livingston, Sherman Livingston, Melvin Livingston, Clarence Livingston and Alonzo Livingston and a brother-in-law, Beryl Whittington. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Wednesday, April 2nd at 11AM. Interment will take place at Haleyville Methodist Cemetery in Commercial Township. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
