Velma E. Pearce, age 93, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 16, 2014. Velma, the daughter of the late Frank W. and Emma B. Pierce, was born on March 8, 1921. She was educated in the Canton School System where she graduated from 8th grade. She was married to the late George H. Pearce, Sr. She was a life-long resident of Bridgeton. Prior to her death, she had resided with her nephew, David in W. Deptford for the past 14 years. She had been employed as a house keeper for over 40 years by the Morvay family. She enjoyed cooking and taking care of others. Velma leaves behind to cherish her memory; a nephew, David Brown, Jr. of W. Deptford, a cousin, Kenneth Cuff of S.W. Philadelphia, PA; a sister-in-law, Mariah D. Pierce of Bridgeton; a life-long friend, Betty J. Watford of Bridgeton and a host of nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by; eight brothers and sisters, Anna Elizabeth Pierce, Howard Pierce, Sr., Charles Pierce, Sr., Leslie Pierce, Gladys Brown, Emma Pearce, Agnes Gould and Verna Green. Funeral services will be held at Bethany Christian Church, 80 Old Burlington Rd., Bridgeton on Monday, March 24th at 11:30 AM. Interment will take place at Gouldtown Memorial Park in Fairfield Twp. Friends will be received at the church from 10 AM to 11:30 AM prior to the services. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Twp.
