Dawn Patricia Carter, affectionately known as "Tish" passed away Sunday, January 19, 2014 at the Wilmington DE Veterans' Affairs Hospital, following an extended illness. Tish was born in Bridgeton NJ on October 9, 1950. She is the daughter of Shirley and the late W. Calvin Boone Sr. She attended Bridgeton Public Schools and graduated early from Bridgeton High School. She also received an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Administrative Office Management from Virginia College in Huntsville (HSV) Alabama. Throughout her life, she worked hard and never shied away from an opportunity to learn something new. She worked at Murbecks, and attended welding school, where she was certified. She also worked at the Sun Shipyard in Chester PA. Tish enlisted in the US Army from 1978 - 1982, and achieved the rank of Specialist (E4). She proudly served our country as an Air Defense / Missile Technician. In her last job, she served the Lord, as an Administrative Assistant at Union Hill Primitive Baptist Church in HSV. Some other interesting facts that most did not know about Tish was that she loved to draw and received an Art scholarship in New York, was an avid reader, and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. She is survived by two children, as Son - Steven Covey (Valarie) of Virginia, a Daughter - Nikeya Hanes (Devin) of Texas, four Grandchildren - KaShondra, KaRina, Landon, and Sean; Three Sisters - Sheila Graham, Mary Gross, and Darlene Boone; Three Brothers - Calvin Boone, Jr. (Peggy), Irvin Boone, and Kevin Boone all of Bridgeton NJ. Funeral Services will be held at John Wesley United Methodist Church, Matthew Brown Way and Grove Street, Bridgeton on Saturday January 25th at 12 PM. Interment will take place privately a the convenience of the family at Cedarhill Memorial Park in Hopewell Twp. Friends will be received at the church from 11 AM to 12 PM prior to the services. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Twp.
