Obituary of Rev. Wilburn Massie

Rev. Wilburn Massie, 87, of Upper Deerfield Twp. went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 10, 2014 surrounded by his family and friends at Inspira Regional Medical Center in Vineland following a lengthy illness. The husband of Macey (nee Chandler) Massie, he was born in Waynesville, N.C. and was the son of the late Paul and Maggie Massie. He is survived by; his wife of 68 years; a daughter, Linda Elbertson; two sons, Jerry Massie and his wife Dale and Will Massie and his wife, Michelle and three grandchildren, Heather, Amanda and Shi-ann. Rev. Massie was the founding pastor of the Monroeville Freewill Baptist church in 1957. He then became the pastor of the Willowgrove Freewill Baptist Church in the early 1970's. Prior to his retirement in 2010 due to health concerns, Rev. Massie had served as pastor of the Norma Independent Freewill Baptist Church since the early 1980's. Funeral services will be held at the Padgett Funeral Home, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Tuesday, January 14th at 12 Noon. Interment will take place at Olivet Cemetery in Pittsgrove Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 AM to 12 Noon prior to the services.
