Leon D. Ore, Sr., 87, of Bridgeton died Monday, November 25, 2013 at his home following a one year period of declining health. The son of the late William Ore and Mary Whitsell Ore and the husband of the late Lydia Johnson Ore, he was born in Fairfield Twp. on January 18, 1926 and had been a Fairton and Bridgeton resident most of his life. A Veteran of World War Two, he had served his country in the United States Army in the European Theater. Before his retirement, Mr. Ore was a Union Mason by trade and was a member of Bricklayers Union Local 54, Jenkintown, PA. He was a member of VFW Meade-Woodward Post 1795 in Bridgeton and the Bridgeton Order of Eagles Airy. Surviving are two sons, Leon D. Ore, Jr. of Millville and Howard I. Ore of Vineland; a daughter, Mary Pappas of NC; a step-daughter, Margaret Smith of Millville and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his two brothers, S. Kenneth Ore and William Ore. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Tuesday, Dec. 10th at 11 AM. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 AM prior to the services at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery in Hopewell Twp.
