Obituary of Marlene C. Jenkins

Born in Hopewell Twp. on September 11, 1938, she was the daughter of the late William "Pete" Carter and Delores Prince Carter. She had been a Newport resident since 1956 and had lived in Stow Creek prior to that. Marlene was well known in the area as the owner and operator of Jenkins Seafood in Newport which was an intricate part of her everyday life and she began operating in 1972. She also was active in helping many in her community and anyone she knew was in need. She is survived by; two daughters, Karen J. Connors of Bridgeton and Lisa F. Jenkins-Merritt and her husband Mark of Newport; a son, David E. Jenkins, Sr. and his wife Michelle of Dividing Creek; her husband, John Bradford of Newport; two sisters, Joyce Foster of Newport and Janis Hayes and her husband Henry of Cauldsport, PA; her aunt, Vera Splitter of Hopewell Twp., nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Clarence "CJ" Jenkins, III and her brother, William Carter, Jr. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 160 Main Street, Cedarville on Wednesday November 27th at 10 AM. Friends will be received at the funeral home form 9 AM to 10 AM prior to the services. Interment will take place at Newport Baptist Cemetery in Downe Twp.
