James E. Loew, age 87, of Upper Deerfield Twp., died Tuesday evening, November 5, 2013 at his home under the care of Hospice with his family. He had been in declining health for the past two years. A lifetime Upper Deerfield Twp. resident, he was born to the late Frank Russell Loew and Louella Harris Loew on April 17, 1926 and was the husband of Edna Stout Loew. Mr. and Mrs. Loew had celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary this past July. Before his retirement, Mr. Loew had been employed with the Owens Illinois Glass Co. in Bridgeton for over 45 years. A dedicated member of Upper Deerfield Fire Co, # 1, he had served for over 60 years and had been a former Chief of the Department and Secretary for many years. In addition to his wife Edna, he is survived by two sons, Robert F. Loew and George J. Loew both of Upper Deerfield Twp., 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway # 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Friday, November 8th at 11 AM. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 AM prior to the services. Interment will take place at Deerfield Presbyterian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions in Mr. Loew's memory be made to Upper Deerfield Fire Co. # 1, Deerfield Street, Deerfield, NJ 08313.
