Joseph E. Pippitone, age 80 of Port St. Lucie, FL and formerly of Bridgeton, died Thursday, November 24, 2011 at St. Lucie Hospice House in Port St. Lucie following a two year period of declining health.
Born in Bridgeton on December 24, 1930 to the late Millie Pippitone, he was the husband of the late Rose Forgen Pippitone and a lifetime Bridgeton resident until moving to Florida one year ago.
A veteran of the United States Army, he had been employed with Owens-Illinois Glass Company in Bridgeton for many years before his retirement.
Mr. Pippitone was a member of the Parish of the Holy Cross, St. Teresa of Avila Church and had served as Scoutmaster of Troop 98, Boy Scouts of America in Bridgeton for over 20 years. He was also an avid woodworker.
Surviving are a son, Edward A. Pippitone of Bridgeton; a daughter, Cynthia L. Hooten and her husband John of Alaska and two grandchildren, James W. Knipe, III and Kaileigh Rose Marie Hooten.
Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery in Hopewell Township.
