Frederick D. Swanson, age 70 of Millville died Friday, November 25, 2011 at South Jersey Extended Care in Bridgeton. The son of the late George C. Swanson and Mary Craig Swanson, he was born in Murphy, NC on May 16, 1941. Mr. Swanson had lived in Millville for five years and had been an Upper Deerfield Township resident prior to that. A truck driver by trade, he had also worked at the Dandee Oil Company in Bridgeton for 11 years, the Wheaton Glass Company in Millville for 7 years and had been a roofer with Donald Weber of Millville for many years. He was a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose, the Eagles Airy and the V.F.W. in Bridgeton. Surviving are a son, F. Dan Swanson of FL; two daughters, Joan A. Calchi of Millville and Tammy Lynn Speidel of OH; four brothers, Edwin C. Swanson of VA, David Swanson of PA, John Swanson of Millville and Benjamin Swanson of PA; three sisters, G. Joanne Suthard of Bridgeton, Willa Mae VanSycle of NY and M. Ellen Murton of OH, five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Donald, James, Clifford and Dale Lee Swanson and a sister, Eva Brettrager. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at Laurel Lawn Cemetery in Upper Deerfield Township. Arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Township.
