Obituary of Edward R. Carey

Edward R. Carey, 79, of Pittsgrove, died on Friday, September 13, 2013 at home under the care of Hospice following three months of declining health. Born in Bridgeton on December 18, 1933 to the late Edward Carey and Mary W. Morrell Carey, he was the husband of the late Patricia Hamb Carey. He had lived in Pittsgrove for the last three months and prior to that had been a resident of Fairfield Twp. Before his retirement, Mr. Carey had been employed with LoBiondo Bros. Trucking Co. in Rosenhayn for 22 years. He had also worked as a carrier for the Bridgeton Evening News for over 30 years. In his leisure time, Edward enjoyed doing yard work, gardening and writing. He is survived by three daughters, MaryLou Weldon and her husband Michael of Louisiana, Patricia Ritz-Gonzalez and her husband Gonzalo of Pittsgrove, Cheyenne Jacobs of Belvidere; a son, Jim Boggs of Atlantic City; a sister, Anna May Biggs of McKee City; a friend, Faye Craner and her husband Richard of Upper Deerfield Twp. and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Carey; a son, James Carey and his longtime companion, Jessie Holman. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway # 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Thursday, Sept. 19th at 11 AM. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, Sept. 18th from 6 to 8 PM. Interment will be made at Overlook Cemetery in Bridgeton.
