Deborah L. Mantuano, 61, of Newport, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2013 at Cooper University Hospital in Camden following an extended illness. Born in Camden on January 12, 1952 to the late Les Bauer and Ann Genk Bauer, she was the wife of John M. Mantuano, Sr. Debbie was raised in Washington Twp. but had been a Cumberland County resident most of her life. Prior to her illness, she had served as a victim advocate for the State of New Jersey. She was also an advocate for the MAAD (Mother's Against Drunk Driving). She loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. Debbie enjoyed trips to the beach and working in her garden in her free time. She was an avid collector of lighthouses and angels. Besides her husband, she is survived by seven children, William Abrams and his wife Dorian of Newport, Jennafer Shoemaker of Millville, Christina Giberson and her husband Shawn of Galloway, Richard Abrams of Millville, John Mantuano, Jr. of Heightstown and Michael Mantuano and Robert Mantuano both of Newport; two sisters, Carol Brangan and Judith Martin, 13 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Abrams. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 160 Main Street, Cedarville, on Saturday, September 14th at 12 Noon. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 11 AM to 12 Noon prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Deborah Mantuano Memorial Fund c/o any Millville Savings Bank branch office.
