Lucy A. Newsome, 67, of Fairfield Twp., died on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Inspira Regional Medical Center in Vineland. Born in Bridgeton on August 7, 1946 to the late Fred Little and Minnie Carter Little, she was the wife of Douglas L. Newsome. She had been a lifetime resident of the Bridgeton Area. Lucy was currently employed by the Gateway Community Action Partnership in Bridgeton as a Pre-School teacher for 9 years. She had also worked for the Tri-County Community Action Agency prior to that. Besides her husband Douglas, she is survived by a daughter, Monique McFarland and her husband, Adam McFarland, Sr. of Bridgeton; a step-daughter, Maryann Hester and her husband, Minister William Hester of Bridgeton; two sisters, Minnie White of Bridgeton and Jillette Little of Brooklyn, NY; a brother, Roosevelt Owens of Barnwell, SC, eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a step-son, Carl Newsome and a sister, Perzelian Hawkins. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 17th at Union Baptist Temple, S. Pine Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way at 12 Noon. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Memorial Park in Hopewell Twp. Friends will be received at the church from 10 AM to 12 Noon prior to the services. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp.
