Obituary of Val Williams

Val Williams, 61, of Upper Deerfield Twp. passed away peacefully at her home with her "Hun" Greg Dowdy by her side following two months of illness. Born in Morristown, TN on October 9, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Vole Mathis and Faye Moore Mathis. She had lived at her present address since 1970 and prior to that had resided in Cosby, TN. "Val" had owned and operated "Val's Southern Style" Hair Salon in Upper Deerfield Township for the past 40 years. She was a member of the National Cosmetology Association. She is survived by her beloved daughter, April M. Shirley and her husband Jason of Oneonta, AL; two sisters, Joanne Rhodes and her husband Edward of Dandridge, TN and Deane Galbreath of Hartford, TN.; her fiancé, Greg Dowdy of Upper Deerfield Twp. and her two granddaughters who were the joys of her life, Makenna Shirley and Jorja Shirley and many other family members and friends. Funeral Services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp., on Friday, August 16th at 10 AM. A visitation will be held on Thursday evening, August 15th from 6 PM to 8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in "Val's" memory to the charity of one's choice.
