Leonard A. McLeish, Sr., 83, of Newport died at his home on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 surrounded by his family following an extended illness. Born in Philadelphia, PA on September 17, 1929 to the late Hugh P. McLeish and Mary Aitkins McLeish, he was the husband of Doris Young McLeish. They had been married for 63 years. Leonard had lived at his current address for the past two and a half years and prior to that had resided in Delran, Lake Havasu, AZ, Las Vegas, NV, Kingman, AZ and Dunnellon, FL respectively. Prior to his retirement, Leonard had worked as a truck driver. After he retired, he went into business for himself in the maintenance and repair field specializing in vacuum cleaners. He was a former member of the Elks (Kingman) and Moose (Lake Havasu) Lodges. He was also a life member of the NRA. Leonard was also a co-founder of the Delran Junior Marksmen Program. He served as a trustee for the Kingman Fire Department. Besides his wife, Doris, he is survived by a daughter, Sharon Bart and her husband Ed of Newport; three sons, Leonard McLeish, Jr. and his companion Terry Foy of Kingman, AZ, Richard McLeish and his companion Shan of FL and Neil McLeish and his wife Elizabeth of Kingman, AZ. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven McLeish and two brothers, Bruce McLeish and Hugh McLeish, Jr. Funeral services and interment were held privately at the convenience of the family.
