Kenichi "Ken" Takeda, 89 of Bridgeton died Monday morning, July 8, 2013 at Cumberland Manor in Hopewell Twp. Born in Montebello, CA on May 7, 1924 he was the husband of Kumi Suzuki Takeda. He had lived in the Bridgeton area for over 60 years. Prior to his retirement, Ken had been the Captain, owner and operator of the "Kingfisher III" fishing vessel based out of Fortescue. He had also worked previously as a body repairman with Fred Bianco in Vineland. He had been a member of the Fortescue Captain's Association and was a veteran of the United States Army having served his country during World War Two. Besides his wife Kumi, he is survived by two daughters, Donna Takeda of Canada and Julie Takeda of Bridgeton and two brothers, Mas Takeda of Upper Deerfield Twp. and Ted Takeda of Mississippi. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Takeda. Funeral services and visitation were held privately at the convenience of the family at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME in Upper Deerfield Twp. Cremation and inurnment took place at the Laurel Lawn Crematory in Upper Deerfield Twp. Written condolences can be sent the family though the funeral home website at www.padgettfunrelhomes.com
