Clarence R. Zane, Jr., age 85, of Upper Deerfield Twp., died Friday evening, June 7, 2013 at the Inspira Hospice Inpatient Unit in Bridgeton. Born in Bridgeton on June 10, 1927 he was the son of the late Clarence R. Zane and Mary Lewis Zane. The husband of Mildred Nichols Zane, he was predeceased by his first wife, Betty Hider Zane and had been an Upper Deerfield Twp. resident most of his life. Mr. Zane was a veteran of World War Two and had served his country in the United States Navy in the American, Asiatic and Pacific Theaters. A barber by profession, he had owned and operated the "Clip Artist" since 1953. He was a member of VFW Meade-Woodward Post 1795-Bridgeton, American Legion Shoemaker Post 95-Bridgeton and Order of Elks-Deerfield Lodge. In addition to his wife Mildred, he is survived by a son, Barry E. Zane of Audubon; two sisters, Betty Kroll of Woodstown and Irene Bradway of Pilesgrove; two half-brothers, Raymond F. Zane of Mickleton and Robert Zane of Stone Harbor and 4 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Eric L. Zane and a brother Frank Zane. Graveside funeral services will be held at Woodruff Methodist Cemetery on Wednesday, June 12th at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions in Mr. Zane's memory be made to the Deerfield United Methodist Church, 1557 State Hwy # 77, Deerfield, NJ 08313.
