Charles K. Moncrief, Jr., age 71, of Stow Creek Township, died at home Saturday, October 29, 2011 following a brief illness. Born in Salem on July 21, 1940 to the late Charles K. Moncrief, Sr. and Grace Evelyn Johnson Moncrief, he had lived in Stow Creek Township for the past 35 years and prior to that had resided in Bridgeton. Before his retirement, Mr. Moncrief had been employed with Leone Industries in Bridgeton as a machine operator for 20 years. Prior to that, he had worked at the former Owens-Illinois Glass Co. in Bridgeton. Charles graduated from Bridgeton High School in1958 and had served in the New Jersey National Guard. He was an avid fan of drag racing and had formerly raced at the Vineland Speedway. He also enjoyed vegetable gardening at his home and all types of sports. Survivors include two sons, Christopher M. Moncrief of Stow Creek Township and Anthony C. Moncrief of Tampa Bay, Fl; two sisters, Barbara A. Dowell and her husband Herbert of Owings, MD and Lorraine M. Durand of Upper Deerfield Township; a granddaughter, Kayla O. Moncrief and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Lawrence R. Moncrief. Funeral Services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township on Saturday, November 12th at 11 AM. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Bridgeton. Friends will be received at the funeral home prior to the services from 10 AM to 11 AM.
