Obituary of Linda Hill

Born in Bridgeton to the late Floyd Lambert and Betty Jane McMullen Knipe, she was the wife of Kenneth Hill. She had been an Upper Deerfield resident for most of her life. Linda was a fifth grade teacher in the Bridgeton School system where she was recognized as the district's teacher of the year. She also helped break a gender barrier as one of the first female volunteer firefighters in Cumberland County. Later, Linda served as a substitute teacher in the Bridgeton and Upper Deerfield school districts. She was an avid puzzler, enjoying Sudoku and cryptograms. As a lover of nature and animals, Linda spent her summers in Canada fishing, bird watching, and enjoying nature. She was also an active song writer, with several songs published by the Skyelab Music Group in New York City. Furthermore, Linda enjoyed expressing her faith, through music, as a member of the Cohansey Baptist Church choir. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Hill of Upper Deerfield Twp., her son, Matthew Hill of Upper Deerfield Twp., her mother, Betty Jane Knipe, two brothers, four sisters, and several nieces and nephews. Linda was predeceased by her father Floyd Lambert and step-father William Knipe, Jr. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, on Wednesday April 17th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Laurel Lawn Cemetery in Upper Deerfield Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, April 16th from 6 PM to 8 PM and on Wednesday morning from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
