Obituary of Georgia "Dean" Jenkins

Georgia "Dean" Jenkins (nee Cates), 94, of Upper Deerfield passed into eternal rest on December 30, 2024, after a brief illness and will be missed by all who knew her. She was born in Hartford, TN, the daughter of the late Reverend Lewis and Martha Cates. Dean was a long-time employee of the Kress Department store in Bridgeton. After the store's closing, Dean focused her life on God and family. She loved spending time and playing with her grandchildren and later her great-grandchildren. Wiffle ball, kickball, hide-and-seek, coloring, puzzles, toys you name it. If it involved the kids, she was all-in. She was also an avid lover of animals. She was a member of Christ Community Baptist Tabernacle in Newfield and was very active in the church until health issues limited her activity. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and the Hallmark Channel. Mrs. Jenkins was predeceased by her late husband, Wilburn Jenkins. as well as several brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son, Ralph E. Jenkins of Upper Deerfield; a grandson, Michael Jenkins, of Hopewell; a granddaughter, Karen A. Smith (Christopher) of Millville; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Allison and Andrew Jenkins; Cameron and Bria Yellin; and Kaiyah Underwood. In addition, she is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025 at Christ Community Baptist Tabernacle, 188 Route 40, Newfield, NJ 08344 at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Olivet Cemetery in Pittsgrove Twp. Friends will be received at the church from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
