Obituary of Charlie C. Thomas, Sr.
Please share a memory of Charlie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Charlie Cinclair Thomas Sr., age 84, peacefully transitioned to be with The Lord on December 14, 2024. Born on April 28, 1940, in Burkeville, Virginia, he was the cherished son of the late Frank and Agnes Thomas. Charlie received his education at Morning Star School and was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church.
In 1957, Charlie moved to New Jersey, and a year later, he met and married the love of his life, Inez Ada Jones. Together, they built a life centered on love, faith, and family, raising six of their eight children.
Charlie was a hardworking man who wore many hats throughout his life. He worked at the local iron foundry and electric company before establishing a successful wood-cutting business. Later, he also operated and maintained heavy equipment, working alongside his dear late friend, T. Ellsworth.
Known as a “Jack of all Trades and Master of Many,” Charlie was admired for his humility, kindness, and willingness to help anyone in need. He became the go-to mechanic in his community, skillfully repairing vehicles for friends and family. Above all, Charlie was a dedicated family man whose greatest joy came from providing for and caring for his loved ones. He will be missed.
Remembering Charlie with the greatest love and respect is his wife Inez Ada Thomas, Four sons; Charlie Thomas Jr., Johnny Thomas, Anthony Thomas, Gregory Thomas, and bonus son, Ernest Pierce; two daughters, Michele Denise Wakefield (Thurmond), Joyce Thomas, and God daughter, Anesha Davis (Derek); his two brothers, Frank Thomas of Virginia and James Thomas (Joyce) of Maryland, three sisters, Catherleen Thomas Moss and Verlean Thomas Robinson of Virginia and Francis Thomas of Maryland.
Proceeded by sisters Mary Ferguseon and Zena Harrell. Precious grandchildren, Alex Butler, Charlie Thomas III (Aime), Gregory Thomas, Tarrelle Thomas, Jazmin Wakefield and Sarah Thomas, and seven great grandchildren.
In addition, Charlie will be missed by a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, condolences and kind words during this time. A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held at a later date.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:23)
